Midlothian trash & recycling schedule
Twice weekly under the automated program (live since Aug. 2026 per Ordinance 2026-35): Mon/Thu (A-Week) or Tue/Fri (B-Week) per the city collection map. Bag all trash inside the black 95-gallon cart; lid fully closed; cart ≤170 lb. No bags next to, on top of, or outside the cart unless they have Pink Tags ($1.04 each from Utility Billing). Extra tagged bags ≥3 ft from the cart. Trucks run ~7 a.m.–6 p.m.

Includes bundled limbs, appliances, furniture two workers can handle, one fence panel/week, limited electronics (call first), Freon appliances with certified tag. Brush: limbs ≤3 ft long, ≤6 in diameter, bundled/tied, <35 lb, ≤2 cubic yards per brush day. Grass/leaves aren’t brush — use the trash cart or Pink Tags. Set-out checklist
City rules before collection day. Confirm with the city if anything looks off.
When
Carts and bulk/brush out by 7 a.m. on the service day (or night before). Collection window about 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Missed trash/recycling after 7 p.m.: report to Waste Connections the next day for makeup before noon the following business day.
Where
Curbside or designated alley with primary house access. Wheels toward the house (lid arrows toward house). Carts 5 ft from cars, mailboxes, or poles; 3 ft between carts. Pink-tagged extra bags ≥3 ft from the cart.
Limits
Trash/recycle carts ≤170 lb with lids closed. Extra bagged trash only with Pink Tags ($1.04). Additional carts $6.15/mo (not senior-discount eligible). Bulk: one item per week. Brush ≤2 cu yd per brush day under size/weight rules.
Brush
Branches ≤3 ft long, ≤6 in diameter, bundled and tied, <35 lb each; total ≤2 cu yd per brush pickup day. No bagging required if securely bundled. Grass clippings and leaves aren’t brush service.
Not allowed
Loose trash outside the cart without Pink Tags. Bagged recyclables. Recyclables outside the blue cart (treated as trash). Grass/leaves as brush. Untagged Freon appliances. Electronics may be limited — call Waste Connections before setting out. Construction/remodel waste isn’t residential bulk (see ordinance / commercial rules).

Trash bagged inside the black cart. Recyclables loose (not bagged) in the blue cart.
Fees and fines
No set-out citation dollar amounts on the fetched Trash & Recycling pages. Pink Tags $1.04 each. Missed collection: Waste Connections next day. Cart damage/replacement: Waste Connections (seniors not charged for replacements). Special needs (side-yard/garage assist): request via Waste Connections.

Holidays
From the city Trash & Recycling page holiday block (verified Oct 15, 2026): Waste Connections doesn’t service New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas; all other holidays run normal. Trash falling on those days moves to the next scheduled collection day. If Christmas or New Year’s falls on Wednesday, recycle for that day moves to Saturday. Automated cart program effective Aug. 1, 2026 (Ordinance 2026-35); city new-service page also cites Aug. 3, 2026 start — rules above are the post-automation instructions.
