Set-out

Bulk pickup is automatic in Farmers Branch — no request needed.

Set-out checklist

City rules before collection day. Confirm with the city if anything looks off.

When

Out by 7 a.m. on service days (CWD). Ordinance: no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before; remove rollout carts by 9 a.m. the day after. Monthly CWD bulk by 7 a.m. on the recycling day in the first full Monday-week.

Where

At the curb; trash receptacles and recycle cart ≥3 ft apart and ≥3 ft from mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, drainage ditches (CWD). Ordinance also requires ≥12 inches from fences, trees, meters, poles, and other carts; don’t park vehicles blocking carts, brush, or bulk piles.

Limits

East of I-35 bags/boxes ≤50 lb; west of I-35 cart-only; carts over about 200 lb aren’t serviced (ordinance); monthly CWD bulk on recycling day (volume limit not stated on the fetched CWD page — confirm on the city bulky page when readable). Extra trash/bulk: Citizen Collection Center or Camelot Landfill per city/CWD guidance.

Brush

Brush is a City Solid Waste service (not CWD cart bulk). Ordinance: tree limbs/trunks/hedge cuttings ≤10 ft at the curb; bundles/piles of non-container trash ≤50 lb. Bagged leaves may go at the curb on the designated trash day (CWD). Re-verify pile volume and accepted/prohibited lists on farmersbranchtx.gov/brush-yard-waste when the page renders fully.

Not allowed

Resident-owned trash cans aren’t serviced (CWD). Corrosive/flammable/explosive/medical/hazardous waste may delay or deny cart service until removed (ordinance). Rock, waste, and building materials from building/remodel generally aren’t removed by city/hauler unless properly containerized for bulky pickup. Dead animals ≥10 lb don’t go in carts.

Bags

Bag trash inside the gray cart (strongly encouraged / required containment per ordinance for rollout contents); recyclables in the blue cart.

Fees and fines

Fetched CWD Farmers Branch pages don’t list dollar citation amounts. Ordinance sets early/late cart windows and placement rules; violations of Ch. 66 are unlawful. Cart requests: city online order form (no fee). Missed trash/recycling: CWD; missed bulk/brush: city 972-919-2613.

Holidays

Not yet confirmed. Check your city.

As of Oct 15, 2026, the city’s Trash & Recycling / Holiday Trash Schedules pages are JS-rendered and didn’t return readable 2026 Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year collection-impact tables to our fetch. The CWD 2026 bulk PDF marks observed holidays on the calendar but doesn’t state the trash slide rule. Don’t invent holiday make-ups — check the city’s Holiday Trash Schedules / Community Updates before publishing holiday pages.
