Full details for Danvers: every rule, with sources
- Trash
- Weekly automated curbside for residents with Town-provided 65-gallon green trash cart (Republic Services contractor per Town FAQ). All trash must be bagged inside the cart; lid must close — overflow not collected (additional carts via online request: $160/year trash, $100/year recycling on water/sewer bill). Don't put recyclables or household hazardous waste in trash. Day by street — PDF schedule + refuse map on Collection Schedule page. Set out by 7:00 a.m. collection day. Missed pickup / route questions: Public Works 978-762-0231 (FAQ also lists 978-777-0001 ext. 3011).
- Recycling
- Weekly single-stream in Town-provided 95-gallon blue cart; all accepted recyclables commingled; don't bag. Lid must close or excess not collected. Contaminated loads stickered and left curbside. Accepted curbside: plastic bottles/jars/jugs/tubs; metal cans/tins/foil; glass bottles/jars; paper (newspaper, magazines, paperboard, flattened cardboard). Not in cart: trash, plastic bags, fabric/textiles, yard waste, electronics, Styrofoam, cartons (trash per Recycling Guidelines). Recyclables in trash (except contaminated) can cause trash rejection.
- Bulk pickup
- Bulky items and white goods collected separately from weekly cart service. $20 sticker required (Town Hall reception, Business Division 2 Burroughs Street, or online) for: upholstered furniture, wood furniture, carpet (up to 10 rolls ≤4 ft), white goods (washer, dryer, water heater, dishwasher, microwave, trash compactor), gas grill (no propane), push mower/snow blower (oil/gas removed), Freon appliances, TV, computer monitor. Call phone number on sticker day before trash day to schedule; sticker on item, curbside by 7:00 a.m. collection day. Mattresses/box springs: UTEC program (schedule via utecinc.org/mattress-recycling or 978-856-3902 per 2026 Public Works calendar mailer). Toilets → transfer station. Metal/rigid plastics → transfer station, not curbside bulk.
